Hymer has completed the topping-out of its new Competence Center for sandwich panel manufacturing. With its cutting-edge infrastructure and the associated optimised production processes, the new facility is designed to meet the rising demand for motorhomes and caravans while also laying the groundwork for future innovation.
“Our new Competence Center for sandwich panel manufacturing in Bad Waldsee marks a major step forward for Hymer’s manufacturing capabilities. The new facility, located in the northwestern section of Hymer’s Factory 3 in Bad Waldsee, spans approximately 8,300 square metres. The state-of-the-art production site will house the company’s sandwich panel manufacturing processes, including foaming, side-wall pre-assembly and logistics.
Great care was taken to ensure the Competence Center is as climate-friendly as possible in terms of its energy supply, supporting sustainable and resource-efficient production. Around 40 per cent of the roof will be greened after construction, improving the microclimate in the production area. An adjacent photovoltaic system will also be used to generate sustainable energy for the production facility. Additionally, the Competence Center will be equipped with its own heat pumps, providing efficient, eco-friendly heating.
A section of the new building will be fitted with a unit that serves as a social and break area, while also providing the option to expand the internal prefabrication areas. The building is expected to be completed and ready for occupation by March 2025, with full-scale production set to begin in summer 2025.
