Four seasons in one week: With theHYMER B-MC T 600 WhiteLine to the mountains

Dutch photographer and videographer Jannes Drop and author Hannah König dream of driving to the mountains with their three-year-old son Louie. They usually travel across Europe in their 24-year-old HYMER B644 "Bonnefie" and only decide on a direction - with no fixed destination. Where they end up is always a surprise.

This spring, however, they first went to southern Germany to swap their old camper for a brand new HYMER B-MC T 600 WhiteLine for a week. This took them to the Alps, where they experienced four seasons in one week. From the "mobile hotel" they enjoyed the summer sun in Austria, celebrated spring in Italy, went on autumn hikes in Switzerland and enjoyed winter snow fun at thousands of meters above sea level.

The HYMER exchange

The journey to Bad Waldsee is already positive and we find the perfect, free place to stay overnight with a winemaker and ice cream maker in the Middle Rhine Valley. There we enjoy the hospitality and a delicious dinner in the restaurant of the Rheingoldschänke guesthouse. After a quiet night in our motorhome, we drive on and reach Bad Waldsee.

There we swap our old motorhome for a new model, the HYMER B-MC T 600 WhiteLine. We are impressed by the shapes and lines of the motorhome, its spaciousness and its luxurious bathroom. We quickly make ourselves comfortable with our own things and look forward to the adventure ahead.

In the evening we use the modern, well-equipped kitchen of the new motorhome for the first time, with a huge refrigerator, spacious drawers with soft-close function that can accommodate all kinds of things, and the extra-deep sink with integrated cutting board. With an additional cushion we transform the two long beds into a large king-size bed and enjoy the many amenities such as wardrobes with built-in lights, an all-round sound system for music and various lighting settings that can be controlled via the HYMER Connect app.

In a romantic sunset atmosphere, we toast the coming week with well-chilled drinks from the large refrigerator.

Summer in Austria

The next day we drive towards Austria and enjoy the impressive mountains and snow-capped peaks. Although the Silvretta High Alpine Road does not open until June, we enjoy the drive through picturesque landscapes. Louie is delighted that our motorhome is ideally suited for such adventures. We leave the motorway and drive along winding roads between green meadows until we reach the small community of Düns in the bright afternoon sunshine.

Despite it being early March, the 19 degrees feel like a summer day. A friendly Austrian lumberjack invites us to park our HYMER in front of his mountain pasture and spend the night there. Thanks to the comfort of our HYMER motorhome, we feel at home. This makes our stay in Austria an unforgettable experience.

The first snow

The next day we drive towards Arlberg. As we drive through the mountain range between Vorarlberg and Tyrol, it starts to snow more and more heavily. This magical change in the landscape makes a holiday in the mountains special. We pass Lech am Arlberg, known as a winter sports area for the Dutch royal family, and finally park in Klösterle. Here we swap our sneakers for hiking boots and go for a hike at the foot of the Hoher Riffler in the Verwall Mountains - near Pettneu am Arlberg and St. Anton.

Driving through the mountains in the HYMER motorhome is a joy. Despite the cold outside, we enjoy the warmth of the vehicle. It feels like a luxurious, moving hotel room where we drink coffee and listen to our favorite music while Louie happily sings along and points to the mountain peaks. We often stop to admire the beautiful surroundings and have something to eat or drink.

We stop for lunch in Tobadill, a quiet Austrian mountain village, and later we reach See, a lively place near Kappl, Ischgl and Galtür. The place offers many activities and using an app we find a parking space at the Apart Sonnenhof, where we can spend the night with the motorhome and use the hotel's electricity.

Although we are not skiers, we take the cable car up the mountain. The ski slope is overcrowded, but we enjoy the quiet winter landscape away from the crowds. The view is like a postcard idyll and the grandeur of nature makes us forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

After a hot chocolate in a café, we go shopping and then enjoy the delicious chili con carne that we cooked ourselves in the elegant kitchen of our motorhome. The comfort and amenities of the HYMER vehicle have once again impressed us and Austria has won our hearts.

Mysticism in snowy Italy

After a restful night in the motorhome, we drive towards Trentino-South Tyrol. In light snowfall, we enjoy Austrian cakes with coffee and drive through an impressive mountain landscape. A missed turnoff leads us to Lake Reschen with the mystical sight of a Romanesque bell tower in the water. Further into Italy, the snowfall increases.

We admire the white winter landscape from the warm HYMER B-MC T WhiteLine and consider ourselves lucky to be travelling in a motorhome that can withstand this cold and handle the snowfall with ease.

Our search for a place to camp takes us to Sölden, but the thick layers of snow there force us to turn back. Finally, we find a beautiful campsite in Prad am Stilfserjoch with a heated swimming pool and restaurant. After a day in the snow, we relax in the warm water and enjoy a delicious Italian dinner.

The spring comes

We wake up in the rising mist in the mountains, enjoy the dramatic views from the motorhome and have breakfast with pancakes and fresh fruit. In Prato allo Stelvio we admire the blooming pink blossom trees and explore the village with its historic houses. After a walk and a visit to a trendy café where we buy specialty coffee beans, we continue towards Trentino.

On the way along Lake Garda we enjoy the rising temperatures and the spring sun. We head for the Riserva Naturale Torbiere del Sebino National Park, park the motorhome and take a quiet walk through the nature reserve with its rich biodiversity.

Later we discover Iseo, a picturesque town with an impressive landscape of mountains and the blue lake. There are several campsites on Lake Iseo where you can park your camper right by the water. From the campsite we chose, we walk in ten minutes to the pretty town center with its cobbled streets and narrow alleys that lead to unexpectedly beautiful squares. Louie plays happily in a playground while we enjoy the idyllic view.

For dinner we find a cozy restaurant and enjoy a delicious pizza with fresh ingredients. After a walk along the lake and an Italian ice cream for dessert, we return to the camper.

Autumn in Switzerland

After the first days of summer in Austria, very wintry moments high in the mountains of Austria and Italy and a beautiful spring day in Italy, we decide to go to Switzerland the next day. We are very curious about Lugano. But here the sky is grey and the heavy rain makes it cold.

So the next day we drive on to eastern Switzerland in cold and wet autumn weather. Despite the bad weather, the magnificent mountain landscapes tempt us to leave the motorway at the next exit. The rain slowly turns to snow and we wind our way through hairpin bends to ever whiter heights.

A traffic jam in the tunnel forces us to take a break, but in the warm and spacious HYMER motorhome the waiting time is pleasantly bridged with coffee, snacks, music and games.

Our last stop is the picturesque village of Trin in the canton of Graubünden, where we enjoy nature on winding mountain paths. After a restful night in the HYMER B-MC T, we drive across the border to Austria, finish off with a raclette burger and finally return the motorhome to Bad Waldsee.
